Results of the festival
International students from MSTU shared their impressions of the International Festival of Russian language and culture for international students «Russian language unites continents», which was held at Kalmyk State University.
First and foremost, the students highlighted the large number of representatives from Russian universities who took part in the festival. Our students met peers from Guinea, Mali, Bangladesh, Togo, Haiti, Pakistan, Peru, Syria, Ecuador, Chad, Algeria, and other countries.
The festival featured a rich educational program. Participants explored the sights of Elista. At the spring language school «Russian Word», they studied Russian vocabulary and grammar and tested their knowledge at the VIII International Online Olympiad in Russian Language and Country Studies «Access Code – Russian Language».
As part of the competition segment, students recited poems and monologues, performed songs in Russian. The MSTU team presented outstanding creative performances: Kahana Edgar Deogratius (ND‑31) performed Viktor Tsoi’s famous song «Kukushka» («The Cuckoo»), captivating the audience, who enthusiastically joined in singing along. Juma Ashraf earned a round of applause with his lyrical rendition of the romance «Ocharovana, okoldovana» («Enchanted, bewitched») to verses by the renowned Russian poet Nikolai Zabolotsky. Taha Riham (LD‑501) delivered a highly expressive and moving recitation of Eduard Asadov’s poem «Lyubov’, izmena i koldun» («Love, Betrayal and the Sorcerer»). At the end of the festival, students wrote essays about Russia. They also joined the drawing contest «Russia Through My Eyes» and the photo contest «Russia in the Photo Lens».
