Faculty of Engineering and Economics was founded in 1996. Today it is one of the largest faculties of the university, where about 900 students study full-time and part-time. The faculty unites three departments: higher mathematics and systems analysis, organization and management of transport processes, service of transport and technological machines and equipment. 5 doctors and 28 candidates of science work at the faculty.
Graduates of the faculty are involved in business activities and work in enterprises of various forms of ownership, educational and research organizations, state and municipal authorities. The acquired knowledge and qualifications allow graduates to occupy senior management positions as financial and commercial directors, managers, and heads of economic services of tourist enterprises.
The faculty maintains close ties with the basic transport enterprises of Maykop. Since 2009, students of engineering specialties undergo industrial and pre-diploma practice at their own experimental research and production base of MSTU.
The faculty is actively cooperating with the Morozov State Forestry University (Voronezh), Nevinnomyssk State Humanitarian and Technical Institute, Republican Institute for Humanitarian Studies and other leading universities of the country.
Thanks to the active work of the Department of Automobile Transport, MSTU is a member of the International Association of Motor Transport and Road Education (MAADO).
Since 2011 Faculty of Engineering and Economics has been organizing the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Applied Aspects of Geology, Geophysics and Geo-ecology with the Use of Modern Information Technologies". In 2017, together with the Institute of Ecology of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia, the faculty began implementing the international scientific project “Climatic changes in the intensity and frequency of extreme hydrological and meteorological phenomena in the coastal zone of the Krasnodar Territory and Abkhazia”. This project is supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR). In February 2017, a research laboratory "Geo-ecology, Geo-informatics and Environmental Management" was organized on the base of the department of higher mathematics and system analysis.
